Home Base Southwest Florida Community Spotlight: Wounded Warriors of Collier County
By Home Base
Wounded Warriors of Collier County is dedicated to raising and donating funds to worthy organizations whose mission is to empower Post -9/11 Veterans and their Families with recovery and transition programs and services. Home Base is honored to be one of those programs. Our Southwest Florida contingency is the grateful beneficiary of funds raised from the non-profit and officially listed as one of their designated charities.
Dale Mullin, President and Founder of Wounded Warriors of Collier County, is a Veteran himself, having served in the Vietnam War. He is a Naples resident, and appreciates programs focused on the Southwest Florida Veteran population. “Wounded Warriors of Collier County is committed to helping our local Veterans and their families returning home from today’s wars,” said Mullin. “Our mission is to increase the public’s awareness and solicit their support to help fund Veterans Programs in SWFL that assist with their transition.”
Home Base serves local Florida Veterans through Warrior Health and Fitness, a free six-month program designed to help men and women improve their physical health and well- being through supervised physical exercise, education about healthy eating, living, sleep hygiene and stress management. For Veterans who need more serious clinical care, Home Base serves the Southwest Florida Veteran population through the Intensive Clinical Program (ICP).
In the ICP, Home Base pays for Florida Veterans to travel to Boston and receive treatment at the top-rated Massachusetts General Hospital for post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. All transportation, care, meals, and accommodations are fully covered for the patient and one family member. Home Base works with local Florida providers to ensure the Veteran patient can transfer back into care in their own community upon their return. The ICP is funded in part through a grant from Wounded Warrior Project as part of the Warrior Care Network.
Wounded Warriors of Collier County supports Home Base and their Florida-specific efforts by sponsoring the Run to Home Base Florida: Home Base’s signature event held at JetBlue park each winter. The organization also sponsors Home Base’s longest running community fundraiser: the golf event at Kensington Golf and Country Club in Naples.
Thank you, Wounded Warriors of Collier, for your commitment to help our Florida Veterans! With your help, we will continue to change the landscape of care for the 21st century warrior and military family.
