August 10th, 2020 | Naples, FL  – Wounded Warriors of Collier County (WWCollier.org) is pleased to announce it has received two (2) $15,000 grants from the Community Foundation of Collier County. These funds will support the Warrior Homes program, which provides a healthy and safe living environment for Veterans in need of a hand up, not a hand out.  Starting in 2019, Warrior Homes is the result of the community coming together to address the homelessness issues faced by local Veterans.  Residents of Warrior Homes primarily transition from the Collier County Veterans Treatment Court, David Lawrence Center and St. Matthews House.  The first Warrior Home, Alpha House, opened its doors in January 2020.

“A safe, stable home is a critical first step in allowing our Veterans to rebuild their lives,” stated Dale Mullin, President, Wounded Warriors of Collier County. “Warrior Homes provides this critical need for Veterans who need support in transitioning back into society, securing employment and obtaining other helpful resources,” Mullin added. “ First is the first step to restore the lives of those who have served our nation”.

The Community Foundation of Collier County awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Changing Needs Fund. This Fund is made up of donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to identify and grant to the most community’s most current needs.
