Wounded Warriors of Collier County Receives $39k Grant
From The Community Foundation

March 4, 2021| Naples, FL  – Wounded Warriors of Collier County (WWCollier.org) is pleased to announce it has received a $39,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Collier County. These funds will support the Warrior Homes Program expenses, such as rent, utilities, insurance, furnishings, and/or management fees.

The Warrior Homes Program provides a healthy and safe living environment for Veterans in need of a hand up, not a hand out.  Starting in 2019, Warrior Homes is the result of the community coming together to address the homelessness issues faced by local Veterans.  Residents of Warrior Homes primarily transition from the Collier County Veterans Treatment Court, David Lawrence Center and St. Matthews House.  The first Warrior Home, Alpha House, opened its doors in January 2020.  The second and newest home, Bravo House, is currently in the process of being prepared to provide long-term, permanent affordable housing to more local Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The plan is to open the Bravo House no later than mid-April.

“A safe, stable home is a critical first step in allowing our Veterans to rebuild their lives,” stated Dale Mullin, President, Wounded Warriors of Collier County. “Warrior Homes supports the Housing First Model that is the foundation to good health” Mullin added.

The Community Foundation of Collier County awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Changing Needs Fund. This Fund is made up of donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to identify and grant to the most community’s most current needs.
