Wounded Warriors of Collier County Purchases the Alpha House
Naples, FL – Wounded Warriors of Collier County (WWCC) is very proud to announce the purchase of the Alpha House, the very first home established though the organization’s Warrior Homes program. The Warrior Homes program was initially launched in 2019 upon learning that graduates of the Collier County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) needed an interim, safe and stable home environment to support recovery, employment opportunities and reintegration back into the community.
The first of its kind in Collier County, the Alpha House opened in January 2020 and provides transitional living for VTC graduates, and Veterans by recommendation from the David Lawrence Center, St. Mathews House, and the Hunger and Homeless Coalition. With an 86 percent success rate, the Alpha House Veteran residents also help take care of the home, and assist their community by initiating food drives, seasonal gift baskets and helping elderly neighbors when needed. The residents are also professionally managed through the David Lawrence Center.
Most notable, after successfully calling local attention to a Federal Housing exception, the home can now house seven (7) Veterans. Fifteen (15) Veterans have been housed year-to-date.
WWCC closed on the purchase of the Alpha House on April 26, 2022; the purchase of the home was made possible entirely through private donations. Additional support will be provided through the generosity of community contractors and retailers adding a new roof, paint job, an air conditioner and a brand-new flagpole proudly waiving the American flag.
